HorseMuse provides equine-assisted learning opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery.
What Is Equine-Assisted Learning?Horse and human partnerships have existed for many centuries. Within the last twenty years, an inspiring and innovative horse/human partnership has been formalized into a therapeutic discipline practiced within North America and around the world. Equine-assisted learning (EAL) is an active and beneficial approach to empowering individuals through experiential learning. As an effective approach to personal growth, self-discovery and leadership development, EAL can benefit anyone and everyone.
Why Are Horses Good Teachers?Horses are exceptional communicators. As prey animals, horses must be acutely aware of their environment to protect themselves and their herd from danger. Their survival as a species has depended on their sensitive observational skills and intuitive knowing. Through EAL sessions, we can learn from horses by paying attention to their honest and non-judgmental feedback to us about our own approach to daily living.
How Does This Feedback Work?First, the horse is aware of how you are feeling about yourself and your relationships. By tuning in to your energy and emotional state, horses listen to you at a profound level. If you're feeling anxious, vulnerable, content, or happy, the horse will act as a mirror and reflect that emotion back to you! Second, horses work as a team within a herd, BUT it is a team with a clearly defined hierarchy. Through EAL, you become part of the team, but you also need to learn the ways of the herd. To do so, you may need to surrender your leadership role to face your inner struggles and truths. Finally, you can’t fool a horse by hiding your emotions. A horse can sense when you are not being your true self. Because horses have no hidden agenda and do not judge you, they can teach you how to feel confident about being authentic in your relationship with yourself and with others. |

Your Personal Quest
Individuals who are seeking to improve their well-being, focus on personal development, manage stress, build self-confidence, develop leadership skills, and nurture emotional learning are ideal candidates for EAL sessions. |
Each session at HorseMuse is individually tailored to include achievable goals as identified by each client. Within sessions, experiential exercises focus on verbal and nonverbal communication, intuition, building trust, using your senses, body awareness, relationship building, creating clear intentions, boundary setting, decision making and problem-solving. EAL sessions are very effective and on average, your goals may be accomplished in four to five individual appointments.
Please note: all horse activities are performed at ground level. No prior horse experience is required. Sessions are approximately 75 minutes in length and can be scheduled weekly, biweekly or monthly.
